In April 2014, Briefcat founder Vahid Dejwakh was studying for his Administrative Law final exam at William & Mary Law School
. He wanted and searched for an online repository where he could find Admin law-related materials that previous law students had created and used when they were taking the same class. He also wanted a tool he could use to gather all of his class notes together, and a way to engage with his peers on the legal material outside of class. He could not find any such place.
Finding it peculiar that law students often had to reinvent the wheel, cohort after cohort, he sought to solve this problem by creating an online safehouse for law students. Over the summer, he built Briefcat.
